Forget someone you love

If you’ve just broken up with your significant other or are going through a divorce, it’s hard to move on. It’s hard to let go of someone you love so profoundly, but how do you forget someone you love? 

I don’t think you ever forget someone you love. It is said time heals all wounds, and it does. You don’t forget the person and forgive the hurt for whatever happened between you both, then allow yourself to move on.

You allow yourself to walk away from the hurt, get stronger, and become a better version of yourself.

Introspect yourself, concentrate on what matters and try to find yourself who you are without your significant other. 

You start loving yourself more than you love them, and value yourself more, and eventually, the hurt goes away. All you are left with is the good memories. You know you’ve moved on when there’s no more prolonged anger, longingness, guilt anymore. You let go of all the negative feelings for the person and be happy with what you both had. 

Ends can be heartbreaking but allow yourself to grieve and mourn the loss you’ve suffered. Find consolation. It’s your road to recovery, to start feeling like yourself again.

Tips to help you

  • Remember there is no particular time limit

It can take one month, three months, one year, five years. Everyone has their moving and healing pace and can take any amount of time. Don’t try to force yourself or beat yourself for being hung up over the same person. You are a human, and you live with great intensity; it takes time to feel that intensity with someone else again or let that intensity fade. 

  • Grieve

Let yourself feel your emotions, whether it’s anger, guilt, sadness, hurt, anything. Allow yourself to feel it and let it out. Don’t drown yourself in your negative emotions. Give your negative emotions the fuel to help you move towards positivity. 

After you are done with all the negative emotions, let yourself feel the emptiness and mourn and grieve your relationship. Then pick yourself up and start working on yourself. If you don’t let the hurt in, how will you heal?

  • Delete the phone number and remove them from social media 

Social media is mostly fake. People only post the best part of themselves. If you see updates from your ex, it might make you sad and feel angrier at how they enjoy or are even remotely happy when you feel so much hurt. It becomes a barrier in your path to move on because you keep feeling that the relationship was a joke to them. Therefore, removing your ex from all social media is a good idea. 

Also, delete the phone number, or you will have constant urges to call them and ask for some consolation to make you feel better for the time being. 

  • Introspect yourself

Concentrate on your emotions and acknowledge what you are feeling. Don’t disregard how you feel. Please take it in and let yourself let out your feelings in positive ways. Let it be the fuel to your path of recovery. 

Focus on the path of loving yourself and valuing yourself more than anyone in your life. That would make it easier. 

  • Write down how you feel

Talking and reaching out is essential during times like this, but if you’ve difficulty telling someone your emotions or make someone understand, write things down. Write down your feelings, everything you think, start journaling. Start writing both your lows and highs so that you can monitor your progress and feel good about how far you’ve come. 

  • Meditate/Yoga/Exercising

Focusing on yourself is a significant milestone in loving yourself. The best way to focus on yourself is to start exercising or meditating, or doing yoga. Anything that tires you out to distract you from thinking about them or helps you focus on your body. A healthy and fit body makes you feel better about yourself and makes you feel proud. It even is an excellent boost for your self-confidence. Yoga quotes will help you with the motivation of doing yoga regularly.

Exercising helps you build up your self-esteem, and you start feeling good about yourself. Meditation and yoga help one connect to their spiritual self, which is an excellent way to channel your negative emotions. 

  • Self-care

Pamper yourself. Go shopping, get a massage done or buy yourself things you like. Spend all of you on yourself. Give parts of you to yourself than anyone else and can have a spa day or a relaxing day. You can even take a vacation to help you get away from negative emotions and feel your importance. Don’t be afraid to try out new things. Get out of your comfort zone and start focusing on things you like and things you’ve always wanted to do. Don’t be afraid to try out anything. Go for it and complete your most wanted items. 

  • Talk to a therapist

If all these activities haven’t been helping you and still feel low and have low self-esteem and you’ve only been feeling down, consult a psychologist. It’s okay to ask for help. Asking for help doesn’t make one weak. You are a human with emotions, and things that hurt you are different from harming others.

Remember to treat yourself like a human. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Forget someone you love is not easy but your entire life is waiting for you.
