Prolonged conditions will lead to inflammation of the scalp surfaces. Mustard oil is an anti-inflammatory agent that helps to soothe the affected region and also prevents the spread of inflammation.

Hair growth promotion is another significant advantage of mustard oil. Hair growth can be improved by the stimulation of hair follicles by an external agent like oil. When mustard oil is applied to dry hair, the follicles receive a stimulation that activates some hair growth-promoting substances. Too much exposure to dirt and dust causes an excess build-up of dead cells on the scalp. In order to remove such dead cells from the scalp, it is necessary to exfoliate the scalp once in a while. Exfoliation refers to the process of removal of dead skin cells from the skin’s outer layer. There are many chemical exfoliants made up of microplastics for hair scalps. But these chemical exfoliants are very dangerous and have the potential to cause abrasions, redness, and scalp irritations. It is best advised to use natural scalp exfoliants like mustard oil for the removal of dead cells.

In the same way, hair conditioning is an essential step in a hair care routine. Chemical conditioners contain chemicals like sulfates and parabens, which may cause various skin irritations and hair loss. A light application of a few drops of mustard oil acts as a natural conditioner and a sun protectant. Mustard oil is not recommended for application before blow drying or heat application to the hair. This causes excessive damage to hair and is highly detrimental to healthy hair development.

Linoleic acid and oleic acid are two prominent fatty acids present in mustard oil. These fatty acids enrich hair growth. Mustard oil is used as a concoction with other oils like coconut oil for hair conditioning. Excess heat application may cause damage to hair which results in split ends. Natural conditioning with Sarson Ka Tel will revive the effects of split ends. Frizziness is another major problem related to dry hair and damaged roots. Frizziness can be controlled by providing intense moisture care to the hair strands. Mustard oil is a great conditioner for treating frizzy hair and damaged split-ends.

If the mustard oil is suitable, it can be directly applied to the skin and scalp. Before the use of shampoo on the hair, the scalp and hair can be soaked with mustard oil.

According to Ayurvedic scriptures, slight massaging of hair follicles after the application of oil will stimulate the roots and hair follicles. After ten minutes of application, the hair can be washed with a cleansing shampoo to remove the oil particles and residues. Once the lather of the shampoo washes of all the Sarson Ka Telresidues, the resulting scalp is fresh and clean.

Mustard oil should not be left on the hair for an extended period of time. Excess residues will cause the destruction of hair follicles. The maximum time for soaking hair in oil is around 5 to six hours only. If exceeded, the excess accumulation of dirt and dead cells will cause other infections.
