Managing payroll can be a full-time job, and itā€™s important to keep all of your records in case something goes wrong. What is a Backup?

A backup is a copy of your data that you make to protect it in case something happens to the original. Sage offers two types of backups: scheduled and point-in-time.

Scheduled backups are made automatically every day at noon, and they include all of your data from the previous 24 hours. Point-in-time backups are made when you choose them, and they include only the data that has changed since the last point-in-time backup.

If you need to restore your data from a backup, you first need to find the backup file. You can do this by clicking on ā€œBackupsā€ in the ā€œSageā€ menu on your computer, selecting the date range for which you want to restore backups, and then clicking on ā€œBackups.ā€ Once youā€™ve found the backup file, you can restore it by clicking on ā€œRestore.ā€ If you want to create a ā€œbest fitā€ backup, you can do this by clicking on the ā€œBest Fitā€ button in the Sage backup menu, and selecting the date range for which you want to create this type of backup. Best fit backups will be created only if there are no point-in-time backups or point-in-time snapshots available; otherwise they will be marked as a ā€œbest fitā€ backup so that your system knows when to perform those best fit backups automatically

Causes of Sage Backup Error:

How to Fix The Sage 50 payroll Backup Error?

When you first attempt to start your backup, you will most likely get the Sage 50 payroll Backup Error. There is an easy solution for this problem, though. That solution is simply changing the destination of your backup.

Solution 1: The Company File is Backed Up in A USB Flash Drive Directly

  • On Sage 50 program backup window.
  • Change the backup folder location from USB drive to a different folder on the computer desktop or either in C:\ drive.
  • Click OK.

Solution 2: I donā€™t have appropriate benefits in work to create backup

  • Search for the Sage 50 program shortcut icon on the desktop.
  • Right-click on the icon and then select the Admin button.
  • Choose the restore operation from the backup.
  • Restore the backup so the procedure can work again.
  • If you forget to switch on your systemā€™s Windows feature, the Sage 50 is not available.

Solution3: A file is too big for their working folder because of the backup into the working folder (.SAJ)

  • Shut the Sage 50 program.
  • Open the Windows Explorer by pressing the Windows key and then pressing the letter E. Thatā€™s the first letter in ā€œWindows.ā€
  • Find the location where you saved your files.
  • Search the organization files.SAJ folder and then open it in order to see its objects.
  • If you need to make changes in case there is any backup (.cab files) or if the folder of backup is onto them, put the backup folder into a different location: .SAJ.
  • You can find the backups in the MySQL and simply folder in the same location on your computer.
  • You should not save the backup data in the.SAJ folder; generally this will occurs once more.
  • In case you restore the backup data which you have moved from the.SAJ folder, a similar issue will happen once more.
  • It is suggested you create new backups and erase the past backup records (as the past backups carry the backup data into the SAJ folder).
  • Attempt to back up the organization file once again.

Solution Four: Backup data is saved into the Windows 8 folder that is restricted.

  • On Sage 50 backup screen.
  • Alter the backup folder location from C:\Program files\xxx to a different folder on the desktop or either in C:\ drive.
  • Click OK.

Solution 5: Restore is the failed. The backup is created by Winzip Application.

  • Uninstall the Winzip application that was transforming the backup file back into a cab file.
  • If the restore or backup is failed, you might be left with an incomplete or corrupted file.

Solution 6: Location of The Backup File is Indicating to A Non-existent Index/drive

  • On Sage 50 backup screen.
  • Alter the backup folder location from past location into a new area on a network drive.
  • Click OK.

How To Create a Backup in Sage 50

  • To Backup first the user has to login
  • Login as Administrator and be in single-user mode if using Sage 50 Premium or Quantum Accounting
  • Go to Backup by Navigating to File
  • To Access Backup, use toolbar at the top of home screen
  • In the Sage 50 Accounting Backup Enter the File Name
  • Choose a location where the backup can be stored
  • The .SAJ Folder should not be used, because the program backs up the File in the particular folder.
  • For Immediate Backup the backup file path that was used recently is set as default
  • If full certain, only then replace an existing backup
  • Click OK and Start the Backup Process

Before you restore a backup

During restoration, youā€™ll need to print any reports that you may need to help you reprocess. If you need to reverse a nominal link posted to your Sage Accounts software

You can access where you saved your backup from this report. The report lists the last six times youā€™ve taken or restored a backup, for all companies in Sage 50cloud Payroll. It also includes the date, time, and location of the backup. To access it, click File then click Backup & Restore Log.

Step for to Restore Sage Company File Backups

  • In Sage 50, select File/Restore
  • Go to wherever your document is saved (PTB record), at that point select Open and Next.
  • Choose the desired tax plan:
    • Marketing and Strategic Projects information
    • Create a business that utilizes the re-established information or A New Company (select this choice when you wish to re-establish the backup to another envelope. Doing so wonā€™t overwrite your current information.)
  • Choose Next
  • Click the desired re establish choices:
    • Organization Data
    • Modified Forms
    • Cloud Transactions
    • Intelligence Reporting Reports or Business Intelligence Reports
  • Click Next
  • Make sure the choices you want to choose are re established, and then click Finish
  • The organization will open once there is a new leader in charge of the re established project.
