Contemporary to popular belief, display boxes are not only used for display purposes. Usually it is thought that these boxes are only responsible for display purposes however they are also used for safe transit. Product display packaging comes in a number of different styles for you to choose from. Depending on the requirement, you can steer through the variety starting with;
Tuck Top Display Boxes
Tuck top display packaging acts just like a typical tuck box with some modification to the top closure flap. It has a perforation in the middle or towards the top to make room for a foldable display lid. Please be advised that the display lid needs to be cut out of the closing flap and so has limited area left for printing.

Retail Product Based Over The Counter Display
Not exactly a box style but more like position based categorization of the boxes can be used to explain these. For reference to context, the product boxes we see towards the end of our shopping at a grocery store on the check-out counter belong here. Upon careful and closer examination, you might notice a stand/holder sort of thing will be present. This is usually termed as an insert and can be ordered with any of the boxes.
There are a number of add-ons when display boxes are under consideration starting with inserts. Inserts are made out of cardboard material with punch die-cuts to make room for the product. The sole purpose of inserts can be divided into two parts; holding product upright and protection during transit. Mostly used in case of glass vials or glass based containers so that they don’t get in contact with each other.
Just like material and size deciding options available to the users for packaging boxes, it is also available for the add-on; inserts. You can have them made to order according to the number of products going into the boxes. There is also the option of measuring up a single product and letting your wholesale packaging supplier know about it. They most probably have a design team in-house and will be able to figure out the whole thing. Now, remember that the key to cost effective display packaging is to order them in bulk but make sure that the measurements fit.
Another very common add-on used in display packaging is gold foiling. Foiling is the process where a certain area on the box is stamped with a metallic brush looking effect. This effect can be stamped on a specific area using a number of different colors like silver, copper and black. Based on requirement, there are some other colors that can be foiled (hot stamped) onto your packaging.
Material Options To Combine With Display Purpose Packaging
There are a number of material options to choose from when selecting display purpose packaging. Starting with 12pt recommended for small sized boxes that contain a minimal weight of 200 to 500 grams at max. The material recommendation goes all the way up-to 24pt which works best with large sized boxes. The reason it is not recommended to use thicker material options with small size can be linked to cardboard collapsing under its own pressure.
Last but not least, Kraft material needs to be taken in-to consideration. The word Kraft is used to represent the eco-friendly material options available for you. It is brown in nature and has a rugged feel to it which means that you cannot print using the cmyk printing method. It also means that if you decide to go against the recommendation, the printed ink will absorb into the Kraft leaving your artwork spilled.
