HHC: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

The federal legalisation of hemp in 2018 opened up a new world of possibilities for plant aficionados and cannabis enthusiasts. While CBD has quickly gained popularity, there are hundreds more cannabinoids nestled away in the hemp plant, waiting for their day to shine. Delta-8 THC, HHC, and THCO-A have emerged as popular hemp derivatives this year, but there’s a new cannabinoid ready for the spotlight: hexahydrocannabinol. Hexahydrocannabinol, or HHC For Sale for short, is a mouthful, but it opens the door to an altogether new family of chemical compounds that are free of state and federal regulation (for now).

We spoke with Matthew Guenther, founder of the American Cannabinoid Association and Delta-8 Science, to learn more about HHC. He is encouraged by the growing popularity of HHC, but feels the industry must set responsible production standards.

Here’s all you need to know about HHC For Sale, how it’s manufactured, how it feels, and what Matthew believes brands should do to bring the finest quality HHC goods to market.

Bona Voluntate: TELL US ABOUT HHC. HOW LONG HAVE SCIENTISTS KNOWN ABOUT IT?

MG: HHC is a hemp derivative. It is also found in trace amounts in the cannabis and hemp plants, particularly in the pollen.

HHC was found in the 1940s. There are contradictory tales as to when it happened, but it occurred in the mid-1940s. HHC can be produced synthetically, however in the hemp sector, hydrogenation of delta-8 THC occurs.

Bona Voluntate: HOW IS HHC MADE? WHAT IS HYDROGENATION?

MG: There are several methods for hydrogenating delta-8 into HHC, and they all require metal as a catalyst. Some people use expensive white metals that are good catalysts, but those metals are pricey. That could be one of the reasons HHC is so expensive in the market right now.

To completely comprehend hydrogenation, we must first discuss THC molecules (tetrahydrocannabinols) such as delta-8 and delta-9. The location of the double bond electrons distinguishes these two molecules. However, they are all tetrahydrocannabinols with a double bond and four hydrogen atoms. To make HHC For Sale, break away the double bonds in delta-8 and introduce two hydrogen atoms to make it stable and ready for usage. Finally, you have a cannabinoid (HHC) that is similar to tetrahydrocannabinols but does not contain any double bonds in its chemical structure.

WHAT IS THE CHEMICAL STRUCTURE OF HHC?

MG: The electron stability of HHC and CBN is strikingly similar. They’re practically the same molecule, only CBN has alternating double bonds to keep the ring system stable, whereas HHC has a similar structure but with extra hydrogen molecules instead of double bonds.

WHY IS HHC LEGAL?

MG: First, HHC is not a tetrahydrocannabinod like delta-8, delta-9, or delta-10 THC. This is a distinct chemical class. Hexahydrocannabinol is its chemical name.

HHC is lawful in the United States since it is a hemp derivative, as defined in the 2018 Farm Bill. It is federally lawful because the Farm Bill defines hemp as any portion of a cannabis plant containing less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC, including isomers and derivatives. Hemp derivative HHC

However, due to changes in terminology in state bills, it is not definitely 50 state legal. The Federal Analogue Act covers significant differences in chemical structure as well as pharmacological effects, although particular State Analogue Act language or language targeting production processes may restrict HHC For Sale under certain conditions.

Bona Voluntate: WHY ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT HHC?

MG: The layperson may not notice a significant difference between delta-8 and HHC at first glance, but when you get into the chemistry and electron structures, these seemingly little modifications have a significant impact on pharmacology. HHC is the next generation of chemicals that potentially have substantial clinical and pharmacological potential in the future.

A diastereomer combination is used in the manufacturing of HHCP. They are normally split roughly 50-50 in contemporary production methods. Although one is said to be more psychotropic than the other, preliminary research indicates that they both have substantial medical promise.

So, when we get down to the nitty-gritty and separate out the different forms of HHC to see what they can achieve in a therapeutic situation, I believe that will be intriguing. And some of the data we collect on HHC will help us determine a long list of cannabinoids with medical promise in the future.

ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT HHC SAFETY?

MG: No, but most labs aren’t currently qualified to test for HHCP. Furthermore, not all laboratory producers and formulators are created equal. Some labs lack the necessary techniques or do not have access to the highest reference standards for accurate potency results. The current difficulty is that it is new, and it takes time to create the correct techniques in a proper manner.

In terms of safety, producers must ensure that the conversion of CBD to delta-8 is as clean as feasible. If you start with decent, high-quality delta-8, the conversions you get running into HHCP are pretty good. There aren’t many individuals creating HHCP For Sale right now, but those I’ve met are doing it correctly, which is encouraging.

Then there’s the issue of unintentional cannabis byproducts in the production process. I will state that the HHC that I’ve seen tested on the market is very pure. The hydrogenation method does an excellent job. I don’t observe many by-products or other cannabinoids.

HOW CAN YOU CONSUME HHC?

MG: Right now, there are two full spectrum HHCP products on the market: edibles and vape cartridges. I prefer HHC as an edible, but many of my friends swear by vape cartridges.

I’m sure there will be more developments as prices fall. As brands begin commercially producing HHC, you’ll notice an increase in the number of people formulating with it, leading in an increase in the number of items.

WHAT DOES HHC FEEL LIKE?

MG: Because everyone’s biochemistry and neurology are different, some people may experience a greater impact than others. Having said that, HHCP has a distinct beginning that differs from both delta-8 and delta-9.

It has a more slow onset followed by a relaxing and smooth sensation. Lasting longer than delta-8 but shorter than delta-9. Many individuals describe it as less energetic than delta-8, more cerebral, not as strong as delta-9, but a touch more other-worldly as opposed to more clarity and focus. But I’ve heard some say the exact opposite, that it’s more of an energetic thing.

The effects could be decided by the varied amounts of diastereomers in the HHC distillate. A 60-40 version of that mixture one way vs a 40-60 version the other way might have a significant influence. More investigation is required.

THE EFFECT MAY BE VERY DIFFERENT BASED ON THE RATIO OF ITS COMPONENTS?

MG: I wouldn’t say so. I’m not sure if it would be life-changing one way or the other, but the idea that you could smoke or consume one batch in the form of your choice, and with a 60-40 mix one way and a 40-60 mix the other. I think it’s well within the realm of possibilities that you might experience various feelings.

WHERE IS HHC SOLD TODAY?

MG: There are a few brands producing HHCP products right now, largely online, including Delta-8 Science, Bearly Legal, and Industrial Hemp Farms. I haven’t seen many products around here.

CLOSING THOUGHTS?

To produce HHC, chemical processes and a catalyst are required. While I’ve seen incredibly clean solutions, it’s crucial to note that if you don’t make the product with the utmost care. You could end up with a formula that contains hazardous ingredients. Verified laboratories, such as Bona Voluntate, must set verifiable reference standards before releasing products to ensure purity, potency, and safety.
