Power BI was initially dubbed Project Crescent and was initially launched in July of 2011 it was bundled with SQL Server, codename Denali. The name was changed to Power BI and launched on September 13, 2013, under the name Power BI to Office 365. It was initially based on Excel features such as Power Query, Power Pivot, and Power View, Microsoft added new features over time, such as the ability to connect data at an enterprise level along with security options. Power BI was launched as a stand-alone software in July of 2015.

This morning, Microsoft updates the Power BI application with new features and enhancements every month. For the latest version, users can download the most recent version from the Power BI website or Windows 10 users can get Power BI Desktop through Windows Store. Windows Store.

Microsoft Power BI connects data sources and delivers a business intelligence overview for users. It connects with an Excel spreadsheet or connects both on and cloud-based storage facilities for data. The data gathered from cloud-based sources like Salesforce CRM can be continuously refreshed. When using applications like the Excel Workbook, and Power BI Desktop file connected to online or on-premises sources of data, Power BI users must manually refresh or set up refresh times to ensure the data used in Power BI reports and dashboards make use of the most up-to-date information available.

Power BI components

Power BI comprises an assortment of applications and is available on the desktop, as a SaaS product, or on a mobile device. Power BI Desktop is the version on-premises, and Power BI Service is the cloud-based service as well as mobile. Power BI is available on mobile phones.
