One of the most widely used and important metals in the world today is stainless steel. It does not rust, corrode, or get stained as quickly as regular steel. This explains why stainless steel is used so frequently in modern tools and equipment. It is perfect for various applications due to its resistance to corrosion and stains.
Steel Stainless 321/321H
Austenitic stainless steel with a lower titanium content that boosts its resistance to general corrosion is known as stainless steel 321/321H pipes and tubes. It is resistant to intergranular corrosion after holding at temperature in the chromium carbide deposition range of 800 to 1500 degrees F. (427 to 816 degrees C).
A variation of Stainless Steel 321 Pipes (0.04-0.10) with a greater carbon content is 321H. It is made to be stronger and more resistant to temperatures beyond 1000 degrees Fahrenheit (537 degrees C). The carbon content of the plate typically permits dual certification.
Similar to 304, 321 stainless steel pipes have good overall corrosion resistance. It is intended for use in the 1800 to 1500 degrees F (428–416 degrees C) chromium carbide deposition range, where unstable alloys like 304 are vulnerable to intergranular assault. At moderate temperatures, the alloy can be used in most diluted organic acids, but at lower temperatures, it can only be used in pure phosphoric acid. At higher temperatures, it can be used in diluted solutions up to 10%. Even at low concentrations, sulfuric acid or chloride solutions do not work well with SS 321.
Only cooling can harden SS 321; heat treatment is not an option. Standard production procedures can be effectively used to weld and process it.
